Dr. Bloom was born at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, CA and he was raised in Greater Los Angeles. Growing up, he loved playing sports including baseball and basketball. He attended elementary and junior high school in Tarzana, CA where his grandparents worked. He then went to El Camino High School in Woodland Hills, CA where he played varsity basketball.

After high school, Dr. Bloom went to UCLA in Westwood, CA for his undergraduate studies. He majored in Economics, but always had an interest in and passion for health and physical fitness. He worked at the John Wooden Center and Sunset Recreation Center on campus, and was also a personal trainer.

In addition, he held a part-time job working for a doctor's office while he was in college. It was at this office that he witnessed first hand for the first time the potential to cure people suffering pain from such injuries as back, neck, knee, and shoulder problems.

After graduating from UCLA, Dr. Bloom worked as a business consultant for a year. However, it was during this time that he decided to switch his career path into healthcare. He began working at a physical therapy practice in Santa Monica and taking premed courses to qualify for graduate school. During this time, he met some Physiatrists who impressed him with their wide range of skills and ability to care for patients suffering with pain from musculoskeletal disorders. As a result, he ultimately decided to pursue medical school as his next career move.
